Notification of intent to Co-Opt

 

 

It is hereby notified that expressions of interest in the two vacancies for Parish Councillor, be forwarded to the Clerk and Proper Officer of Alresford Parish Council, Mr. M. Cooke.

 

Please send CV and covering letter stating:

  • No prior experience is necessary, full training will be provided.
  • Reason for wishing to be a councillor.
  • Any prior voluntary work experience.
  • Additional skills which can be brought to Council.
  • All applicants will be given full consideration.

 

Please note that it is a condition of being a councillor that a means of contact, either telephone or e-mail is publicly published.

Or applications can be submitted  in writing to the Pavilion Building letterbox on the outside of the Pavilion building adjacent to the flag pole.

Applications will be presented to council in the June Meeting for consideration and may be debated further in a subsequent meeting.

There are currently 2 councillor vacancies.

 

If you are interested in becoming a councillor please contact the Clerk at alresfordpc@outlook.com or in writing to Alresford Parish Council, The Pavilion, Ford Lane, Alresford, Essex, CO7 8AT, explaining your interest and how you can make a positive contribution to the Parish Council. 

 

Elections will be in May 2027.

 

Eligibility criteria

 You must:

  • be at least 18 years old
  • be a British citizen, an eligible Commonwealth citizen or a citizen of any other member state of the European Union, and
  • meet at least one of the following four qualifications:
  1. a) Your name must appear on the register of local government electors for the parish/community at the time of your nomination and throughout your term of office should you be elected.
  2. b) You have occupied any land or other premises as owner or tenant in the parish/community during 12 months before the day of your nomination and the day of election.
  3. c) Your main or only place of work during the 12 months prior to the day of your nomination and the day of election has been in the parish/community area. You do not have to have paid employment to qualify, as long as your main or only place of work is in the parish/community area. For example, Councillors who’s main or only job is being a councillor would be able to use this qualification, if their council office is within the parish/community.
  4. d) You have lived in the parish/community area or within three miles of it during 12 months before the day of your nomination and the day of election.
